East Isles Minneapolis
East Isles Minneapolis is a historic, urban neighborhood located on the east side of Lake of the Isles and extends from west 22nd Street on the north to west Lake Street on the south and Hennepin Avenue on the east to Knox Avenue on the southwest.
The neighborhood’s name reflects the small islands in the lake. Lake of the Isles is a regional park and, along with Lakes Calhoun, Harriet and Cedar, is part of the Minneapolis “Chain of Lakes District.” Comprising over seven acres of historically designated park and wetlands, it is one of the most popular recreational desitnations in Minneapolis. The Midtown Greeenway, a converted rail line featuring bike and walking paths, runs through the southern part of the neighborhood and connects it with the Mississippi River on the east and the Minneapolis city limits on the west.
